Site of the Meeting
The 63rd Plenary Meeting of the International Cotton Advisory
Committee (ICAC) will be held during the week of 28 November,
2004 at the Hilton
Towers Hotel (meeting
contact: tel +91-22-5632-6505, fax +91-22-2204-3133) in Mumbai India. Opening ceremonies, plenary
sessions, meetings of the Steering and Drafting committees and
the offices of the Secretariat will be located at this hotel.
Registration will begin in May. Approximately 400 participants from as many as 40 countries and 8 international organizations are expected to attend. The meeting is being organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Textiles on behalf of the Government of India.
The theme of the 63rd Plenary Meeting will be Enhancing Cotton Competitiveness. Twelve general sessions and four breakout sessions are envisioned, including the subjects of Government Measures and current developments in the WTO, Trading Cotton on an Instrument Based Classing System, New Developments in Biotechnology in Cotton, the Outlook for Cotton Prices, and other subjects. There will be a technical seminar on How to Improve Yields and Reduce Pesticide Use.
An extensive social program is being prepared, including dinners with cultural themes and a trip to a tourist site and Hindu temple of national significance to the heritage of India. In addition, conference lunches, as well as tea and coffee breaks, will be provided each day.
