ICAC Stimulates Cooperation Among Researchers

Date Posted: 09 Jul, 2014

The ICAC Secretariat organized two meetings of regional research networks in the month of June 2014. In order to exchange technical information on cotton production, cotton researchers from Asian cotton producing countries gathered in Dhaka, Bangladesh, June 18-20, while researchers from the Southern and Eastern African countries assembled in Maputo, Mozambique on June 17 & 18. The ICAC Secretariat coordinated both meetings. The 6th Meeting of the Asian Cotton Research and Development Network was also sponsored by CABI, UK. Host countries are encouraged to find local sponsorships so as to maximize the number of researchers coming to the meetings. The major focus in the meetings is on regional issues and common research interests.

One of the prime responsibilities of the ICAC Secretariat in the field of production research side is to facilitate cooperation among cotton researchers. ICAC provides a forum where researchers not only present their research results but also are provided with opportunities to strengthen contacts with their counterparts in other countries in the region. Over 70 papers were presented in both meetings, which are available on the ICAC website at:
