75^th PLENARY MEETING OF THE ICAC

The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) is pleased to announce the Theme and Agenda of its 75^th Plenary Meeting, which will be held from 30^th October to 4^th of November 2016 in Islamabad by invitation of the Ministry of Textile Industry, Government of Pakistan.

The theme is "Emerging Dynamics in Cotton: Enhancing Sustainability in the Cotton Value Chain". The proposed agenda encompasses a broad range of topics, including: climate change; measures and methodologies to reduce the water footprint of cotton; enhancing the attractiveness of cotton production as a business proposition to farmers; sustainable production practices; challenges facing cotton in the textile industry; modern approaches to preservation of quality and reduction of contamination; state-of-the-art ginning and instrument testing practices; inter-fiber competition; and the role of the public sector in the production and trade of cotton.
 
The Organizing Committee in Pakistan has been formed and includes representatives of the Ministry of Textile Industry, other government agencies, researchers and the private sector.
