INTERNATIONAL COTTON ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Tashkent, Uzbekistan
October 22-27, 2017

Cotton in the Era of Globalization and Technological Progress

September 1 Deadline Approaching

Participants in the 76th Plenary Meeting of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) since 1939 should endeavor to register and complete the Visa/Hotel/Tour form prior to September 1.

The three Technical Tours are being organized based on the number of participants. The Organizing Committee needs to purchase train tickets for Samarkand, airline tickets for Bukhara and Khiva, and to book hotel rooms. October is High Season in Uzbekistan, and prices will rise, as the date gets closer. Therefore, prices and spots cannot be guaranteed for those registering after September 1.

The three technical tours will each depart Tashkent in the afternoon of October 27 after the Closing Session of the Plenary Meeting. The approximate time of return to Tashkent for each of the three tours will be around 19:00 on Sunday evening October 29. Therefore, it is advisable to book return flights to depart Tashkent the next day, in case of delay.

Registration for the Plenary Meeting is a two-step process. First, register for the meeting on-line at www.ICAC.org, this ensures that names, addresses and phone numbers are typed correctly. Second, open the visa/hotel/technical tour form: https://www.icac.org/getattachment/mtgs/Plenary/76th/Details/Form_E.PDF.

Complete the form and return it along with a copy of the photo page of your passport to the Organizing Committee in Uzbekistan at x.alimov@uzpex.uz. You will receive a letter from the Organizing Committee guaranteeing your visa. You may then present the letter and your passport at an Uzbekistan embassy or consulate to receive your visa in advance, or you may use the letter to board a plane and receive your visa on arrival in Tashkent.

The Organizing Committee will provide special treatment for plenary meeting participants upon arrival. Participants will be greeted upon descending the plane and taken by shuttle to the main terminal (Follow signs to the CIP treatment). Assistance will be provided through immigration, customs and for transfers to hotels.

The agenda for the 76th plenary meeting will focus on best practices in cotton production technology, meeting the challenges of inter-fiber competition, and expanding value-added production in the cotton value chain. This will be the first ICAC plenary meeting in Central Asia in approximately two decades, providing a special opportunity to experience the culture and cotton economy of this region.
