ICAC Welcomes Membership of Bangladesh
The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) is pleased to inform that Bangladesh, represented by the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, has completed all the necessary formalities for membership in the organization.
José Sette, Executive Director of the ICAC, stated: “ICAC is proud that Bangladesh will join us as a member. The importance of Bangladesh to the world cotton market has grown considerably in recent years, to the point that Bangladesh has now become the world’s largest importer of cotton, which is used as a raw material for the country’s vibrant textile industry. The accession of Bangladesh will help the ICAC become even more representative of the world cotton value chain. This outcome is the culmination of many years of effort by the ICAC Secretariat and ICAC members, so I congratulate all those who have been involved in this process.”
