Passing of our Lead Interpreter, Mrs Esther Tato-Lopez

Date Posted: 31 Mar, 2017
We are saddened to communicate the passing of our Lead Interpreter, Mrs Esther Tato-Lopez, earlier this month.

Mrs Tato-Lopez collaborated as Spanish interpreter for ICAC since 2002. She was one of the most professional, kind, competent and trustworthy persons to have served the international cotton industry. Her skills as interpreter were highly appreciated throughout these years.

She had a great ability to interpret and translate accurately, including technical and scientific matters. During our plenary meetings, she was always in great spirits and ready to convey to the delegates the true meaning of the speaker. She demonstrated her great professionalism by testing in advance the interpreters’ booths to ensure their correct functioning. Above all, her great sense of humor was her trademark.

We were very pleased to have her as a guest last year during our Plenary Meeting in Islamabad (Pakistan).

Mrs Tato-Lopez was beloved by ICAC staff members and her friends in the world cotton community. We will miss her profoundly.

We convey our deepest sympathy to her family and husband, Mr. Carlos Lopez.
