Technical Information Section
The 39th Plenary Meeting of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) held in Manila, Philippines in 1980 realized the importance of the exchange of information on production research and decided to establish a Technical Information Section within the Secretariat.
The Technical Information Section (TIS) became operational in June of 1982.
Dr. Fred Gillham of Australia was the first head of the Technical Information Section. He left the ICAC in 1987 and Mr. Kees Verbeek of the Netherlands replaced him. Dr Rafiq Chaudhry served as the Head from May 1991 until March 2017.
Dr. Keshav R. Kranthi joined as Head of the Technical Information Section from April 2017. The Section produces a number of publications on a regular basis. The principle clientele of the Technical Information Section are researchers involved in cotton production research activities.
The mandate of the Technical Information Section is to:
Provide updates on cotton production research
Gather information pertaining to cotton research programs and make it available to researchers
